Objects of Obsession

Objects of Obsession explores the various psychological and physical effects of anorexia nervosa, examining how emotional states can manifest within the body. Using the body as a vessel, the series translates harmful cultural ideals into sculptural form where each sculpture represents physical or emotional aspects associated with the disorder, in order to raise awareness.
This series is dedicated to all who suffer from poor mental health and poor body image. If you feel that any these themes affect you or someone you know, please don’t hesitate to reach out for help.

Distortion
Inspired by body dysmorphia and optical illusions.
Fade
Inspired by the desire to fade away, becoming a shadow of oneself.
Carve
Inspired by the methodical nature of controlled damage, where the body is slowly chipped away.
Brittle
Inspired by osteoporosis, or brittle bone disease, a common result of prolonged malnutrition.
Hazy
Inspired by the confusion felt during the disorder and recovery.
